No Need To Hide

You don't have to do it alone!!

As many women I was so unprepared for what came along with being a new mom. Honestly even a year into my child's life I still find myself feeling a little short handed on "know-how". I, like many, did not have a lot of helpful hints and advice prior to the arrival of my son. My mother is not a part of my life, and let's just say my father isn't exactly the most involved either. My son's father was close by my side every step of the way and still is and I am ever so grateful for that (otherwise I may have went coo coo for coco puffs LONG AGO)

My worst mistake was being afraid to ask for help as a new mom, I thought I should be able to adapt and handle it on my own. Reality was a faced a huge, dark, post-partum depression and on top of it all my anxiety flared to ends unimaginable. I look back and I realize how UNSUCCESSFUL this made me during the first few months of my sons life.

I was so sincerely embarrassed to admit how I felt and ask for help with how I was feeling that it all overwhelmed me, in an already difficult time. My biggest lesson to pass along from this is to never be afraid to ask for help, never be afraid to talk about mental/emotional issues EVER, let alone after childbirth. I think the stigma around women's mental health issues have caused women to recluse themselves from showing it to the world. My goal is to make mental health a beautiful thing, somewhat like nursing a wilted flower back into a beautiful blossom again.

As mom's we have to share our insight, in a sad reality where mother's harm themselves and their children, a lot of this can be prevented. Stand together mommy's and share your stories and pictures of those sweet babies!
I've added a couple links below that could be beneficial, I especially love the second one!
